Suffolk Iron Gates -
Case Studies Gallery
We were asked by the town council to look at this project and see what could be done in the way of repairing these gates. At the same time we asked to widen the gates to allow for vehicles to pass through much easier. Once we looked at the gates and railings it was quite clear that the gate pillars them selves were in a very poor state and what with being constructed from cast panels they had very severe fractures which left us no choice but to replace with new. These we constructed in the same way as the originals but cut t from mild steel with cast iron grate panels in set. While making the gates longer we also shortened them in height to give more ground clearance to allow for any future re-surfacing of the pathway. The railings were grit blasted on site to remove the years of paint that had been applied to reveal the decoration of the finials.
Living Metal were called in to provide automated gates to form part of the access control system at a local public school.
